The CCPR Centre’s activities target national and regional NGOs (including regional NGO networks) as well as thematic NGOs whose mandates relate to the ICCPR.

The main areas of activities are the following:

I. Promotion of the role and the participation of the NGOs in the HR Committee’s reporting procedure

• Disseminate information about the Human Rights activities
• Facilitate the coordination amongst NGOs and promote their participation in the State reporting process

II. Build the capacity and support NGOs in their activities related to the HR Committee, including the follow-up to the concluding observations

• Build the capacity of national NGOs in their activities related to the HR Committee, carry out training on the provisions of ICCPR and the working methods of the HR Committee
• Provide support to national NGOs in the drafting of NGO reports and / or briefing notes for the follow-up to the Concluding Observations
• Assist NGOs in their lobbying activities during the HR Committee sessions and in the framework of their follow-up activities (including media awareness, workshops with civil society, activities with National Human Rights Institutions and lobby to the authorities / Parliamentarians)

The CCPR Centre is designed to be an informal and small-scale structure, with a small team based in Geneva (Switzerland) and focal points in different regions of the world. Regional focal points are members of the Board of the CCPR Centre. They are renowned Human Rights Defenders, who are committed to linking the CCPR Centre with national civil society organisations. They ensure that key organisations are properly identified at the national level.
